Eric Phillips and Family

Eric Phillips is a member of the Haisla nation and a 60’s scoop survivor. He is Whale Clan. He is Tsimshian and Gitxsan. Eric started commercial fishing at a young age with his father Ron Phillips who built the fishing vessel Diane Louise and spent all of his summers on the water. For the last 18 years, he has been president of EMP fishing, as the captain of the Diane Louise and in 2018, he received his Captain’s ticket for 150 ton Masters at Western Marine Institute. Eric also studied Emotional Competence for Indigenous People at the Justice Institute, with Dr. Lee Brown. Eric is married with five children. In 2020 Eric was chosen as one of the Board of Directors for the National 60's Scoop Healing Foundation where he still currently volunteers as a director to help other survivors.
